Rodent Traps: Why We Do Not Use Them
Picture this: a quiet evening in your cozy home, and suddenly, you hear the distinct sound of tiny feet scurrying across the attic. It's a common scenario, and most homeowners instinctively think of setting traps to catch the pesky intruders. However, the world of pest control is more intricate than one might imagine.
In the realm of pest control, especially when dealing with rodents, we follow a different approach than most. Our mission is not just to eliminate pests but to educate you on the most effective methods. Today, let's unravel the mystery behind why we don't rely on traps for rodent extermination here at Anchor Pest Defense.
Their Process: Traps
Traps, while effective in some cases, often provide a short-term solution. This method of treatment has several drawbacks.
1. Each trap can only catch 1 mouse at a time and must be rebaited after each caught mouse. This is terribly inefficient, especially when treating a large infestation, and often comes with the not so pleasant smell of dead mice.
2. Traps require constant monitoring, which leads to high costs due to repeat visits.
3. Mice quickly learn to avoid traps, especially the older more intelligent ones. They also learn how to remove the bait without setting off the trap.
Our Process: Baiting & IPM
Our process involves targeted baiting and Integrated Pest Management techniques to eliminate your pest problem with as little impact to your life as possible. In most circumstances you can be confident that the mice will leave your home and have a bad day where you won’t smell them. The theory behind baiting can be explained very simply with a short story.
If my friends and I went out on the town visiting different stores, restaurants and the like and on our trip, ate something that didn’t agree with our stomachs, what would we do? We’d all go back home where we are most comfortable.
For mice, this is the same story. They will sample the bait we have placed and feel sick to their stomach at which point they will do just as we do and go home to seek comfort. This will be the case for every mouse that samples the bait. Remember, traps only get one, bait makes sure they all get a sample when they walk by.
Beyond extermination
Our goal is to empower homeowners with knowledge that prevents future infestations. Understanding rodent behavior is the first step. By identifying entry points, creating barriers, and implementing proactive measures, we work together with our clients to keep their homes pest-free.
Our efficient approach ensures not only the elimination of pests but also the prevention of future invasions. Together, let's create a pest-free future for your home.
